3, 2, 1 Action

In this blog I have selected 10 titles that belong to this genre in graphic form targeting teenagers who are reluctant readers.

My focus is to pull them into a story using this genre in visual form focusing on the below mentioned features:
                - comics,
                - adventure stories,
                - translations
                - manga
                - graphic novel

 The subjects in my novels are good and evil, heroes and heroines, supernatural and villains.

 The illustrations are cartoony, black and white, detailed, colorful and bold,

 The writing style is attention grabbing, richly detailed, witty, engaging and dialect filled,

 Tone is funny, atmospheric, offbeat and violent.

 The characters are courageous, sarcastic and spirited.

 Finally the story line is action packed and plot driven. ENJOY !

Annotation:The Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’engle is an action adventure comic graphic novel.
The book is about two off springs Meg and Murray, along their friend trying to save their father across the universe.
In this impossible mission they are made known to a cube notion that empowers them to rescue their father. By leaping as 3 bizare figures namely Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, they overcome the villain who had enthralled the whole planet.
The idea of survival and optimism is reflected in this novels “laughing in the dark” (171), which is a part of this Genre for teens.

With regard to the techniques of the book Larson’s use of colours for illustrations and also has managed to keep them clear and concise in his loose modern drawing style.

This is book 1 of the Time Quintet Series.

Although the author Madeleine L'Éngle is considered a science fiction write due to some aspects of this novel i.e Atmospheric; Suspenseful; Thought-provoking, it could be catogorised under action adventure genre.

The author has tried liven the novel by creating these new characters and a start to a new series. Some times funny, fast paced  with some twists however not too complex.

Annotation: This action and adventure graphic novel is written by Haruki Ueno and translated by Alethea and Athena Nibley and is a part of a series Big Hero 6.

This graphic novel was converted from a movie with a Japanese setting based on 14 year old gifted boy who created a robot that he subsequently uses to find his brother by defeating the enemy.
The author has digressed a bit from the original plot however it should be a popular read among teens as the movie had a successful launch.

The author’s black and white manga style art with art work further enhances action aspect  of the novel

In this book Arakawa draws readers to it's  suggestive visuals and outlandish concept in the cartoony artwork .There is also a comedy aspect amongst the adventure and action .

Annotation: This manga style action adventure comic written by Oda Eiichiro is a modern adaptation of the “One Piece” originally published in Japan 1999-2001 and the fans of this series will be adamant to read this. This story is about treasure seeking pilots and their adventures. 
A drawback of this book is it's confusing content. Readers will find it strange if haven't read the original.

Complete with otherworldly artwork full of color and also consists a lot of doing words “smiling, snarling, gesturing, punching, kicking". 

Shonen Jump magazine has mentioned this series since 1997 and is considered very popular universally.
As the best selling manga series all time 345  million copies and the author is being recognised for making a difference in this manga.

Annotation: This graphic novel is based on a video game character. It is based on numerous stories of heroes and heroines with time periods travelling back and forward. With multiple adventure chases, political fascinations and complicated stories filled with adventure and drama, this makes an interesting read.

A movie sequel has also been released  Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time movie.

Two stories synchronise and become one, charming Arabic art, fewer dialogue and  pages of good action tells the tale .

Annotation: This Italian translated action and adventure comic graphic novel investigates brutal society where magical powers takes precedence over injustice. Sharaz –De,  main character of the story, is having  to keep a cruel dictatorial king entertained with stories to avoid execution.

Coming from a veteran in the European comic scene contains elegant illustrations printed in an elaborate hard cover with two chapters done using rich water colors thus adding a psychedelic effect . The illustrations in this novel have been subject to praise and is a fine blending of fine art and design. The structure in this book is noteworthy.

Annotation: This action adventure comic  collection is more of the early marvel Conan comics and a great way to introduce the character Conan. This is first in a two volume series.
This comic features Conan as a masculine  strong man with heavy might .Although not a recent comic Barry Smith has done some justice to the illustration process after some mishaps in his early works. Barry Smith is credited for providing art for a number of Marvel works. He also assisted Roy Thomas in writing of this novel and was influenced by R.E Howard short stories and their characters.
Conan the Barbarian was ranked seventh on top 10 1970’s Marvels.
This reconstructed edition  is adorned with modern color and the original drawings touched up giving it a good clean outlook. Conan version is slimmer than bulky muscle man.
This comic was made to live action movie in 1982.

Sinbad despite saving him from these perils also relates to him his past encounters with adventures in order for him to grow up and be a sensible person.

The story meets its motive however the main draw card for the book is artist Kumar’s art work.

This comic categorises mainly under action and adventure, graphic novels and deals with teenage issues such as stubborn, headstrong willful etc. along with an action packed story line and keeps the reader engaged with his writing,
